I Want My Dreams To Go Away

The past several nights, I have been dreaming. I don't like to dream for one very good reason. My mind concentrates on the dream so much that I end up not sleeping well. But there is a plus side to dreaming for me.

Most everything I dream I can pull a story idea from.

The problem is that I already had more than I know what to do with. And last night I added yet another one to the list. The good thing about this one is that the MC is a boy. I don't have many of those. It's so easy for a girl to tell a story from a girl's point of view. The idea is interesting, as it deals with a special hole.

But what's so special about the hole?

I have no clue. Maybe if Mom hadn't woken me up, I would've found out. But as it stands right now, I have yet another idea to flesh out. Part of me is excited and the other part isn't, because I've just got so many dang ideas that are at this same point. What about you? How do you feel when you have too many ideas? Or do you never have enough?

i keep all ideas in my head where they belong. if one or two fall out now and then, they aren't the ones i liked the most. and when i get the general plot bug-free or am overly inspired i'll write it down, but not until i can play the story in my head like a movie. it make telling the story easier, and major plot rewrites aren't so frustrating.
but my mind works in such a different way that it probably won't work for anyone but me. :D

I do the watching it like a movie thing too. But, of course, you already knew this. :)

Most likely, the hole leads to a treasure.

It doesn't have to be 'one-good-idea-per-story' Madison. I like to cram as many ideas as possible into the same story. To make them richer and creative-ey-er.

Ever read Garth Nix? If not, I encourage you to. Amazing, breathtaking, creative stuff -- all YA and middle grade fantasy.

No, sadly I have never even heard of Mr. Nix. It has literally been months since I have been able to walk into a bookstore. :(

Cramming a lot of ideas into one, huh? I might give that a try. :)

The library, my friend. Free books forever. And if your local library is anything like mine, even though it's a teeny-tiny one room country job, I can have any book I want sent there from other libraries all over the state.

For free.

I pick 'em online, and my library emails me when they come in. Like Netflix for books. And did I mention that it's free?

So check out 'Keys to the Kingdom, book one: Mister Monday', by Garth Nix. I personally much prefer his breathtaking 'Abhorsen' trilogy, but 'Keys' is more your genre.

Thanks, V! Sadly, I haven't been able to go to the library for months because I have been so busy. I want to go again so bad and when I do, I will def check out those books you have reccommended. Thanks! :D

When you wrote about the hole, I thought of it as a mystery (that's sooooo me) and that someone had maybe buried a box with a journal in it. Just an idea :)
